CPU Guide

The Central Processing Unit (CPU) is the brain of your computer, executing instructions and performing calculations. This guide will help you understand CPU specifications and compatibility.

Cores/Threads

The number of physical cores (processing units) and threads (virtual cores). More cores/threads help with multitasking and parallel workloads.

Clock Speed (Base/Boost)

Base speed is the guaranteed minimum speed, while boost is the maximum speed the CPU can reach under ideal conditions (measured in GHz).

TDP (Thermal Design Power)

The maximum amount of heat the CPU generates under load (in watts). Higher TDP generally means better performance but requires better cooling.

Socket Type

The physical interface that connects the CPU to the motherboard. Must match the motherboard's socket for compatibility.

Process Node

The manufacturing process size (e.g., 5nm, 7nm). Smaller numbers generally mean better efficiency and performance.
